Our cooperating partner, the management organization of the South Transdanubian Mechanical Engineering Cluster, is participating in the CIRC-UITS project, one of Europe’s outstanding initiatives supporting sustainability and digitalisation in manufacturing. The project has developed practical solutions that promote the sustainable design, production, and recycling of electronic components. These developments can be integrated by companies into their existing manufacturing processes.
The cluster management organization, the Pécs-Baranya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PBKIK), takes part in international cooperations that offer real technological and business value to enterprises in the region. CIRC-UITS is such a project, with PBKIK involved as a project partner.
Within the CIRC-UITS project, digital solutions were implemented to support the circular redesign and recycling of four key groups of electronic components: control units, tyre pressure sensors, moulded interconnect devices, and printed circuit boards. These include Digital Twin models optimised for sustainable eco-design and the Circularity Toolbox, which provides AI-based circularity assessment and recycling options.
The project results have attracted significant interest in international professional circles, including at the ELMIA Subcontractor event, where clear feedback confirmed the industry relevance of the solutions. After the project’s completion, partners continue to apply and further develop the tools created, ensuring the long-term impact of CIRC-UITS.
